We grew up in Southeast Georgia and eventually married in 2002. Through the years of growing in marriage and raising our 5 children, God has cultivated a heart for missions and has been preparing us to be sent out. God has opened our eyes to the great need for more laborers to be sent to spread the gospel and our family is ready to boldly walk in faith and surrender everything to Him alone. God has called us to leave the life we know and move to Guatemala to serve the poor and hurting of this world.
Our family will be serving in Buena Vista, Guatemala, as part of the Buena Vista Sports Academy (BVSA). BVSA is more than a soccer ministry; it is an evangelism and discipleship ministry. God has shaped us to serve in community as well as discipleship. By living onsite, we will have the opportunity to share God’s love ministering to 30-36 boys daily.
During the boys’ time in the academy they participate in an intense and focused program combining highly competitive sports, classroom education, devotionals, weight training, hygiene, and nutrition. Most importantly, our family along with other BVSA missionaries, will teach the boys about following Jesus, respecting women, serving their community, and becoming loving husbands and fathers. The goal is to live among and model what a relationship with Jesus Christ looks like and how it manifests itself in a family. Our prayer will be that the Holy Spirit will raise up men out of these boys who will lead change in their community, become loving husbands, fathers, respected leaders, and Godly men. With God’s help, these men can break cycles of abuse and absence of Biblical family values.
We will be able to utilize our medical training, as a physical therapist and nurse, to meet some of the medical needs. Our prayer is that God will be glorified and made much of in our family’s life and share His love with all those He places in our path.
